Welcome to this week's wrestling headlines. These are the top stories you need to know about this week.

Brody Teske Enters Transfer Portal

Last week, #12 ranked Brody Teske entered the transfer portal (reported by FloWrestling). The Iowa native initially started at Penn State (2019-2020) then transferred to Northern Iowa (2021) where he won a Big 12 title and qualified twice for NCAAs. With two years of eligibility left, he'll be a great pickup.

My Take:

Teske is a graduate transfer, meaning he's transferring for educational purposes. According to his LinkedIn, he's going for a masters in Psychology & Sport Performance.

Top schools for this degree are Michigan State and Oregon State. Could he go there or will he end up somewhere else?

US Wins U17 Freestyle Title

For the first time in history, the United States won the U17 World Championships team title with a record 190 points, 3 gold medals, and a bronze. MatScouts' Willie Saylor predicted that "no one's ever beating this." Here's a look at the medal results. . .

  • 🥇 Domenic Munaretto
  • 🥇 Luke Lilledahl (#7 recruit class of 2024)
  • 🥇 Joseph Sealey (#1 recruit class of 2024)
  • 🥉Max McEnelly (2023, committed to Minnesota)

My Take:

This was pure domination, and our freestyle success is only improving. By the time Taylor, Dake, and Burroughs retire, a new crop of talent will be ready.

Exciting New Events Coming 2023

Wisconsin announced the "Battle in the River City" event happening in Jacksonville, FL on November 5th. Five other teams will compete in a one-day round robin dual event.

Princeton also revealed their 2023 schedule with an event against Oregon State happening in Austin, TX in January, and Campbell looks like they're up to something fun against Michigan and UNC. . .

My Take:

After last season's Bout in the Ballpark and Collegiate Duals, it's good to see teams continuing to experiment with new formats, venues, and locations. Keep on innovating!
