What's really happening with Gable Steveson? Is he returning to college wrestling or not?
Let's look at the scoop. . .
Last week ESPN broke the news that Gable Steveson had recently undergone a heart ablation procedure to treat Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome.
He discovered the issue last year before the Tokyo Olympics and has since recovered from last month's procedure.
But are his WWE aspirations shattered? And will he come back to college wrestling? Here are the details you need to know. . .
Can Gable Still Compete?
First, it's important to note that Gable does have one year of eligibility remaining. So, yes, he can come back to compete for Minnesota.
If he returns to heavyweight, he could become a 3x NCAA Champion and 3x Hodge Trophy winner.
WWE Rumors. . .
In September rumors circulated that Gable wasn't progressing in the WWE. "He was supposed to be fast-tracked to main events by now."
Naturally, fans started to believe Gable may train WWE for another year while wrestling for one more collegiate season.
Currently he is training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Will Gable Return?
Though the WWE rumors also led me to believe that Gable would return for the second half of the season, the ESPN article shed light that he has been taking it easy because of the procedure rather than a "lack of progression."
The article said, "he's 100 percent committed to becoming the next big thing in WWE. . ."
There's no doubt in my mind we'll see Gable at a major WWE event in 2023, but I'm very doubtful he'll return to Minnesota. What do you think?
