  • Story 2: Burroughs Becomes Official GOAT
  • Story 3: Rider Wrestling Legend Passes

Team USA Wins World Title

USA men's freestyle team won the 2022 World Championships over the weekend, scoring 198 points to Iran's 150. The team earned 8 medals:

  • Thomas Gilman (57kg) - silver
  • Yianni Diakomihalis (65kg) - silver
  • Zain Retherford (70kg) - silver
  • Kyle Dake (74kg) - gold
  • Jordan Burroughs (79kg) - gold
  • David Taylor (86kg) - gold
  • J'den Cox (92kg) - silver
  • Kyle Snyder (97kg) - gold

My Take:

What a performance! This has the be one of the best wrestling teams in USA history. If only there were this many weight classes at the Olympics. . .

Burroughs Makes History

With a win at the 2022 World Championships, Jordan Burroughs made history. He is now the only US wrestler to have seven World and Olympic gold medals, surpassing legendary John Smith and Adeline Gray.

What's next in 2023 and 2024?

My Take:

Burroughs just etched his name in history as the GOAT, or greatest American wrestler of all time. He will be remembered by my (future) children and yours.

Starocci Calls out Lewis

Brought to you by the Fanco Fanatics.

Penn State's Carter Starocci didn't hold back. He called out Tech's Mekhi Lewis before their upcoming bout at the NWCA All-Star Classic.

On his Instagram story he said "This [bout] won't go the distance. Come in ready, don't wanna hear it's pre season no in shape bulls**t."

Expect an all-out fight at the All-Star event. To hear my full take, you can watch this exclusive video as a Fanco Fanatic.

Rider's Gary Taylor Passes

In sad news, Rider's legendary Coach Gary Taylor passed away last week at the age of 73. Here are a few of his career accomplishments:

  • 442 dual meet wins (3rd most all-time)
  • 110 conference champs
  • 15 All-Americans
  • 14 conference titles

My Take:

Coach Taylor has been a major part of the wrestling community and is still giving back to the sport posthumously; in fact, the family asked for contributions to the Rider Wrestling Booster Club in lieu of flowers.

Prayers to the Taylor family.
