Welcome to this week's wrestling headlines. These are the top stories you need to know about this week:
- Story 1: Davidson's New Head Coach
- Story 2: Two Pitt Wrestlers Return
- Story 3: Update on AJ Ferrari
Davidson Hires New Head Coach
Nate Carr, Jr. will be Davidson's 13th Head Wrestling Coach. Previously at Lock Haven, Carr was instrumental in putting Chance Marsteller, Kyle Shoop, an Ronnie Perry onto the NCAA podium.
My Take:
The Carr family has a history of pursuing excellence. In the next 5 years, maybe we see Davidson reclaim a foothold in the SoCon.
Two Pitt Wrestlers Return
Western PA natives Nino Bonaccorsi and Micky Phillippi will use their "extra eligibility" to return for the 2022-2023 season. The Panthers are both ACC Champs and All-Americans.
My Take:
I assumed Nino and Micky would both come back, but this solidifies that Pitt's lineup will actually be stellar. (Full preview here.)
AJ Ferrari Charged
Former OK State Cowboy AJ Ferrari was charged with sexual battery last Wednesday. He has already been dismissed from the team and removed from the Nearfall Clothing website. AJ's lawyers still remain confident that he will be exonerated.
My Take:
Needless to say, I am disheartened by all of this.
