🌽 How is Nebraska's Lineup? You'll Lovett.

Nebraska missed an NCAA podium finish by 12 points last season. Four All-Americans are leaving, but an NCAA finalist is returning.

So how is the Cornhuskers' 2023 outlook?

Who's Returning & Leaving?

Unfortunately, there are "holes" to fill. All-Americans Chad Red (141), Taylor Venz (184), Eric Schultz (197), and Christian Lance (285) are gone.

On the bright side, Mikey Labriola (7th, 174), Peyton Robb (4th, 157), and Ridge Lovett (2nd, 149) are back and better than ever. Also returning is NCAA qualifier Bubba Wilson (165) and a few others you may have forgotten about. . .

Forgotten Cornhuskers

Don't forget about lightweights Liam Cronin (125) and Boo Dryden (133). Each of them are former NCAA qualifiers and will be instrumental to the 2022-2023 lineup.

Cronin was injured last season. But in the past he has beaten placers like Barnett (WISC), Foley (MSU), and Mckee (MINN). On the other hand, Dryden redshirted after transferring from Minnesota.

Top Starting Recruits

Freshmen Nathan Haas (184) and Silas Allred (197) will likely start this season. Both were top 30 recruits in the class of 2020 (FloWrestling). Haas was a 2x California State Champ at St. John Bosco, while Allred was a 2x Indiana State Champ at Shenadoah.

#17 recruit of 2021 Jagger Condomitti could also battle Wilson for a starting spot at 165. He was a PIAA State Champ.

2023 Lineup Preview

Here's how I expect the team to look in 2023:

  • 125. Liam Cronin
  • 133. Boo Dryden
  • 141. Brock Hardy
  • 149. Ridge Lovett (2nd)
  • 157. Peyton Robb (4th)
  • 165. Bubba Wilson / Jagger Condomitti
  • 174. Mikey Labriola (7th)
  • 184. Nathan Haas
  • 197. Silas Allred
  • 285. Cale Davidson

What to Expect

Both Intermat and FloWrestling predict Nebraska as a #9 team. And I agree (55.5 projected points).

But, Cronin and Dryden could make noise this dual meet season, and one of the freshman could sneak in some wins. If that's the case, Nebraska could make leaps on the National stage and in the Big Ten.

My question for you is: will Ridge Lovett make the finals again this season?
